Darren Ansell
Darren Ansell has been the Space and Aerospace Engineering Lead in the School of Computing, Engineering and Physical Sciences, University of Central Lancashire(UCLan) since September 2012.
At UCLan Darren is leading a two research centres, the first is the ‘Civic Drone Centre’ which develops digital technology for the civil use of UAVs and collaborative research projects with industry partners, the second is an ‘Intelligent Systems Research Group’ which develops intelligent autonomous systems for UAVs and other sectors.
He is a steering board member of the ‘Growing Autonomous Mission Management Applications programme‘ known as ‘GAMMA’, developing autonomous, intelligent software for the aerospace and nuclear industries.
His research interests include autonomous and intelligent systems and software, and he previously spent fourteen years working in industry at BAE Systems in research management and research and development roles, specializing in Mission Systems and Autonomy.
